Professor Dwayne Heard

Dwayne is Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry in the School of Chemistry.

Dwayne’s research group develop new ways to measure the amount, and study the behaviour of, particular compounds in the atmosphere.

This includes compounds found in the air in and above forests, such as the highly reactive hydroxyl radical (OH) which controls the oxidising capacity of the atmosphere and determines how long other important compounds (e.g., methane and carbon monoxide) can remain for.
