Global Change Ecology

Simon is Professor of Global Change Science in the School of Geography and holds an equivalent position at University College London. He is formerly a Royal Society Research Fellow in the School of Geography (2004-2013). The focus of Simon’s research is on understanding the way humans are influencing the Earth system, specifically tropical forests. He founded and co-manages the African Tropical Rainforest Observation Network (AfriTRON), a network of long-term monitoring sites across 12 countries in tropical Africa. Simon uses data from long-term monitoring sites across the tropics to examine the changes occurring in remote forests.
